Testing
Testing is where we do a test to see who has coronavirus. Some people are tested more than once.
There were 1,101,741 tests reported on 16 June 2021. This shows an increase of 2.1% compared to the previous 7 days.
Between 10 June 2021 and 16 June 2021, there have been 6,076,916 tests.
Cases
A confirmed case is someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.
11,007 new people had a confirmed positive test result reported on 17 June 2021.
Between 11 June 2021 and 17 June 2021, 58,830 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows an increase of 33.7% compared to the previous 7 days.
Vaccinations
Vaccines are currently given in 2 doses, at least 21 days apart.
42,216,654 people had been given a first dose by the end of 16 June 2021.
30,675,207 people had been given a second dose by the end of 16 June 2021.
Healthcare
Some people with coronavirus have to go into hospital.
222 people with coronavirus went into hospital on 13 June 2021.
Between 7 June 2021 and 13 June 2021, 1,324 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows an increase of 43.0% compared to the previous 7 days.
There were 1,227 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 15 June 2021.
Some people in the hospital need to use a special device called a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe.
There were 208 coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 16 June 2021.
Deaths
There were 19 deaths within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported on 17 June 2021.
Between 11 June 2021 and 17 June 2021, there have been 78 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows an increase of 41.8% compared to the previous 7 days.
