Tests

Between 10 March 2022 and 16 March 2022, there have been 4,930,922 tests. This shows an increase of 9.8% compared to the previous 7 days.

Cases

A confirmed case is someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.

Between 11 March 2022 and 17 March 2022, 534,747 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows an increase of 43.9% compared to the previous 7 days.

Vaccinations

Vaccines are currently given in 3 doses.

52,721,459 people had been given a first dose by the end of 16 March 2022.

49,254,795 people had been given a second dose by the end of 16 March 2022.

38,576,876 people had been given a booster or third dose by the end of 16 March 2022.

Healthcare

Some people with coronavirus have to go into hospital.

Between 7 March 2022 and 13 March 2022, 11,580 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows an increase of 21.9% compared to the previous 7 days.

There were 14,078 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 15 March 2022.

Some people in the hospital need to use a special device called a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe.

There were 281 coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 15 March 2022.

Deaths

Between 11 March 2022 and 17 March 2022, there have been 740 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows an increase of 1.9% compared to the previous 7 days.
