Tests

Between 11 March 2022 and 17 March 2022, there have been 4,997,040 tests. This shows an increase of 9.7% compared to the previous 7 days.

Cases

A confirmed case is someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.

Between 12 March 2022 and 18 March 2022, 552,198 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows an increase of 38.1% compared to the previous 7 days.

Vaccinations

Vaccines are currently given in 3 doses.

52,725,660 people had been given a first dose by the end of 17 March 2022.

49,269,524 people had been given a second dose by the end of 17 March 2022.

38,596,693 people had been given a booster or third dose by the end of 17 March 2022.

Healthcare

Some people with coronavirus have to go into hospital.

Between 8 March 2022 and 14 March 2022, 12,029 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows an increase of 24.8% compared to the previous 7 days.

There were 14,671 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 17 March 2022.

Some people in the hospital need to use a special device called a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe.

There were 292 coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 17 March 2022.

Deaths

Between 12 March 2022 and 18 March 2022, there have been 752 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows an increase of 3.0% compared to the previous 7 days.
