Testing
Testing is where we do a test to see who has coronavirus. Some people are tested more than once.
There were 664,849 tests reported on 1 June 2021. This shows a decrease of -17.3% compared to the previous 7 days.
Between 26 May 2021 and 1 June 2021, there have been 5,151,204 tests.
Cases
A confirmed case is someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.
4,330 new people had a confirmed positive test result reported on 2 June 2021.
Between 27 May 2021 and 2 June 2021, 25,240 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows an increase of 34.7% compared to the previous 7 days.
Vaccinations
Vaccines are currently given in 2 doses, at least 21 days apart.
39,585,665 people had been given a first dose by the end of 1 June 2021.
26,073,284 people had been given a second dose by the end of 1 June 2021.
Healthcare
Some people with coronavirus have to go into hospital.
123 people with coronavirus went into hospital on 27 May 2021.
Between 21 May 2021 and 27 May 2021, 869 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows an increase of 17.1% compared to the previous 7 days.
There were 923 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 31 May 2021.
Some people in the hospital need to use a special device called a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe.
There were 136 coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 1 June 2021.
Deaths
There were 12 deaths within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported on 2 June 2021.
Between 27 May 2021 and 2 June 2021, there have been 46 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows a decrease of -14.8% compared to the previous 7 days.
