UK Covid update 2 September.

There were 1,027,203 tests reported on 1 September 2021. This shows an increase of 10.5%compared to the previous 7 days.

Between 26 August 2021 and 1 September 2021, there have been 5,886,800 tests.

Cases

A confirmed case is someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.

38,154 new people had a confirmed positive test result reported on 2 September 2021.

Between 27 August 2021 and 2 September 2021, 236,152 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows a decrease of -1.0% compared to the previous 7 days.

Vaccinations

Vaccines are currently given in 2 doses, at least 21 days apart.

48,131,996 people had been given a first dose by the end of 1 September 2021.

43,023,372 people had been given a second dose by the end of 1 September 2021.

Healthcare

Some people with coronavirus have to go into hospital.

848 people with coronavirus went into hospital on 29 August 2021.

Between 23 August 2021 and 29 August 2021, 6,529 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows an increase of 5.0% compared to the previous 7 days.

There were 7,596 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 1 September 2021.

Some people in the hospital need to use a special device called a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe.

There were 1,030 coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 1 September 2021.

Deaths

There were 178 deaths within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported on 2 September 2021.

Between 27 August 2021 and 2 September 2021, there have been 777 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows an increase of 0.9% compared to the previous 7 days.
