Tests

Between 15 March 2022 and 21 March 2022, there have been 5,118,487 tests. This shows an increase of 6.7% compared to the previous 7 days.

Cases

A confirmed case is someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.

Between 16 March 2022 and 22 March 2022, 592,459 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows an increase of 20.4% compared to the previous 7 days.

Vaccinations

Vaccines are currently given in 3 doses.

52,751,751 people had been given a first dose by the end of 21 March 2022.

49,325,037 people had been given a second dose by the end of 21 March 2022.

38,665,626 people had been given a booster or third dose by the end of 21 March 2022.

Healthcare

Some people with coronavirus have to go into hospital.

Between 12 March 2022 and 18 March 2022, 13,379 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows an increase of 21.7% compared to the previous 7 days.

There were 16,272 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 21 March 2022.

Some people in the hospital need to use a special device called a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe.

There were 299 coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 21 March 2022.

Deaths

Between 16 March 2022 and 22 March 2022, there have been 836 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows an increase of 17.1% compared to the previous 7 days.
