Testing
Testing is where we do a test to see who has coronavirus. Some people are tested more than once.
There were 821,585 tests reported on 22 June 2021. This shows an increase of 7.4% compared to the previous 7 days.
Between 16 June 2021 and 22 June 2021, there have been 6,509,682 tests.
Cases
A confirmed case is someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.
16,135 new people had a confirmed positive test result reported on 23 June 2021.
Between 17 June 2021 and 23 June 2021, 79,481 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows an increase of 43.9% compared to the previous 7 days.
Vaccinations
Vaccines are currently given in 2 doses, at least 21 days apart.
43,448,680 people had been given a first dose by the end of 22 June 2021.
31,740,115 people had been given a second dose by the end of 22 June 2021.
Healthcare
Some people with coronavirus have to go into hospital.
211 people with coronavirus went into hospital on 19 June 2021.
Between 13 June 2021 and 19 June 2021, 1,569 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows an increase of 24.8% compared to the previous 7 days.
There were 1,508 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 21 June 2021.
Some people in the hospital need to use a special device called a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe.
There were 250 coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 22 June 2021.
Deaths
There were 19 deaths within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported on 23 June 2021.
Between 17 June 2021 and 23 June 2021, there have been 101 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows an increase of 53.0% compared to the previous 7 days.
