UK Covid update 3 August

There were 724,299 tests reported on 2 August 2021. This shows a decrease of -11.7% compared to the previous 7 days.

Between 27 July 2021 and 2 August 2021, there have been 5,482,827 tests.

Cases

A confirmed case is someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.

21,691 new people had a confirmed positive test result reported on 3 August 2021.

Between 28 July 2021 and 3 August 2021, 182,730 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows a decrease of -20.5% compared to the previous 7 days.

Vaccinations

Vaccines are currently given in 2 doses, at least 21 days apart.

46,898,525 people had been given a first dose by the end of 2 August 2021.

38,590,332 people had been given a second dose by the end of 2 August 2021.

Healthcare

Some people with coronavirus have to go into hospital.

There were 895 coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 2 August 2021.

Deaths

There were 138 deaths within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported on 3 August 2021.

Between 28 July 2021 and 3 August 2021, there have been 542 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows an increase of 12.9% compared to the previous 7 days.
