There were 1,160,738 tests reported on 5 July 2021. This shows an increase of 5.9% compared to the previous 7 days.

Between 29 June 2021 and 5 July 2021, there have been 7,228,494 tests.

Cases

A confirmed case is someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.

28,773 new people had a confirmed positive test result reported on 6 July 2021.

Between 30 June 2021 and 6 July 2021, 186,422 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows an increase of 49.0% compared to the previous 7 days.

Vaccinations

Vaccines are currently given in 2 doses, at least 21 days apart.

45,428,681 people had been given a first dose by the end of 5 July 2021.

33,874,176 people had been given a second dose by the end of 5 July 2021.

Healthcare

Some people with coronavirus have to go into hospital.

406 people with coronavirus went into hospital on 30 June 2021.

Between 24 June 2021 and 30 June 2021, 2,092 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows an increase of 29.1% compared to the previous 7 days.

There were 2,140 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 4 July 2021.

Some people in the hospital need to use a special device called a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe.

There were 369 coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 5 July 2021.

Deaths

There were 37 deaths within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported on 6 July 2021.

Between 30 June 2021 and 6 July 2021, there have been 142 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows an increase of 20.3% compared to the previous 7 days.
