UK Covid update 7 July

There were 968,588 tests reported on 6 July 2021. This shows an increase of 6.2% compared to the previous 7 days.

Between 30 June 2021 and 6 July 2021, there have been 7,315,277 tests.

Cases

A confirmed case is someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.

32,548 new people had a confirmed positive test result reported on 7 July 2021.

Between 1 July 2021 and 7 July 2021, 192,902 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows an increase of 42.8% compared to the previous 7 days.

Vaccinations

Vaccines are currently given in 2 doses, at least 21 days apart.

45,514,492 people had been given a first dose by the end of 6 July 2021.

34,027,302 people had been given a second dose by the end of 6 July 2021.

Healthcare

Some people with coronavirus have to go into hospital.

386 people with coronavirus went into hospital on 3 July 2021.

Between 27 June 2021 and 3 July 2021, 2,460 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows an increase of 44.7% compared to the previous 7 days.

There were 2,446 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 6 July 2021.

Some people in the hospital need to use a special device called a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe.

There were 393 coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 6 July 2021.

Deaths

There were 33 deaths within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported on 7 July 2021.

Between 1 July 2021 and 7 July 2021, there have been 161 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows an increase of 42.5% compared to the previous 7 days.
