Testing
Testing is where we do a test to see who has coronavirus. Some people are tested more than once.
There were 1,242,068 tests reported on 6 June 2021. This shows a decrease of -4.4% compared to the previous 7 days.
Between 31 May 2021 and 6 June 2021, there have been 5,329,462 tests.
Cases
A confirmed case is someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.
5,683 new people had a confirmed positive test result reported on 7 June 2021.
Between 1 June 2021 and 7 June 2021, 35,796 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows an increase of 52.9% compared to the previous 7 days.
Vaccinations
Vaccines are currently given in 2 doses, at least 21 days apart.
40,460,576 people had been given a first dose by the end of 6 June 2021.
27,921,294 people had been given a second dose by the end of 6 June 2021.
Healthcare
Some people with coronavirus have to go into hospital.
154 people with coronavirus went into hospital on 1 June 2021.
Between 26 May 2021 and 1 June 2021, 869 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows a decrease of -0.3% compared to the previous 7 days.
There were 932 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 3 June 2021.
Some people in the hospital need to use a special device called a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe.
There were 134 coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 3 June 2021.
Deaths
There was 1 death within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported on 7 June 2021.
Between 1 June 2021 and 7 June 2021, there have been 59 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows an increase of 1.7% compared to the previous 7 days.
