Testing
Testing is where we do a test to see who has coronavirus. Some people are tested more than once.
There were 928,425 tests reported on 7 June 2021. This shows an increase of 8.2% compared to the previous 7 days.
Between 1 June 2021 and 7 June 2021, there have been 5,655,868 tests.
Cases
A confirmed case is someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.
6,048 new people had a confirmed positive test result reported on 8 June 2021.
Between 2 June 2021 and 8 June 2021, 38,679 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows an increase of 60.6% compared to the previous 7 days.
Vaccinations
Vaccines are currently given in 2 doses, at least 21 days apart.
40,573,517 people had been given a first dose by the end of 7 June 2021.
28,227,362 people had been given a second dose by the end of 7 June 2021.
Healthcare
Some people with coronavirus have to go into hospital.
126 people with coronavirus went into hospital on 2 June 2021.
Between 27 May 2021 and 2 June 2021, 869 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows a decrease of -0.6% compared to the previous 7 days.
There were 957 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 6 June 2021.
Some people in the hospital need to use a special device called a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe.
There were 148 coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 7 June 2021.
Deaths
There were 13 deaths within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported on 8 June 2021.
