Update: Fire crews expect to be on the scene at gas blaze for several hours

An update from emergency services at the scene of a gas substation fire in Trowell.

Nottinghamshire Fire and rescue Service said:

‘Crews from Ilkeston and Stapleford remain on scene whilst we work with

‘Cadent Gas Ltd and Nottinghamshire Police to resolve the incident on Pit Lane in Trowell.

‘We will be on scene for several more hours and thank local residents for their patience.’

Nottinghamshire Police, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service and Cadent were called to the blaze in Pit Lane just after 5.50pm today (Tuesday 16 March 2021)

Inspector Ben Lawrence, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Following advice from gas safety experts a number of properties within 200 metres of the fire have been evacuated while emergency services deal with the incident and residents have been relocated to a nearby community centre and parish hall.

“No injuries have currently been reported and police have cordoned off the area while investigations continue.

“We would advise people to please stay away from the area while the incident is being dealt with.”
