UPDATE: Fire extinguished – Eight fire appliances tackle blaze at a disused Nottingham hotel

Derby Road has been closed to allow firefighters access to the incident.


15:15 | Update | Crews remain on scene at The Strathdon Hotel on Derby Road Nottingham. At present, the road remains closed. Thank you for your support whilst we deal with this incident.

3 pm update: Incident Commander Simon Lilley said that the fire started in a stairwell of the hotel, it has been extinguished and an investigation will start. The road remains closed while firefighters  ventilate the building and conduct a search to ensure no-one is in the disused building. 

2:10 update:

Nottingham Fire and Rescue Service said: “The fire was reported at 12.40pm at a disused hotel on Derby Road.

“The fire is located on several floors. Fire on the ground floor has been extinguished, crews are searching the remainder of the building.”

2pm update:

14:00 | Update | Crews currently in attendance on Derby Road include London Road, Stockhill, Carlton, Arnold, Mansfield, Stapleford, Highfields and West Bridgford.

‘Please avoid the area.’

The blaze is at The Strathdon Hotel on Derby Road.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said at 1:05 pm on Monday 30 August:

‘We currently have 8 appliances and an aerial ladder platform tackling a fire on Derby Road, Nottingham.

‘Please avoid the area and we ask local residents to close their doors and windows.’
