Updates: A1 closed southbound near Newark after serious collision

The A1 southbound in Lincolnshire is closed between the B1174 and B6326.

5:13 pm road reopened – There are residual delays of 60 minutes and approx. 6 miles of congestion.

National Highways Traffic Officers, Lincolnshire Police, Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue and East Midlands Ambulance Service are on scene.

The A1 southbound in Lincolnshire is closed between the B6326 and B1174.

This is due to a serious collision southbound between Balderton and Gonerby Moor.

Diversion Route

Traffic is being diverted on to local routes by police. Traffic further away from the closure can use the below diversion route (signed with a Hollow Diamond symbol on road signs):

• Exit the A1 southbound at the A46/ A17 Newark Junction and turn left onto the A46 (south).
• Continue on the A46 southbound until the A1/A46 roundabout.
• Continue straight over the roundabout along the A46 until Farndon roundabout.
• At the roundabout take the second exit and continue on the A46 southbound for approx. 13 miles to the A46/ A52 Bingham Interchange.
• At the Interchange turn left (east) onto the A52 eastbound passing through Saxondale roundabout and continuing for approx. 16 miles to the A52/ A1 Barrowby southbound junction.
• Rejoin the A1 southbound.
