The A42 in Leicestershire is closed southbound between the M1/A453 and the A511 (Ashby-de-la-Zouch) due to a serious road traffic collision.
All lanes now open – 11:44 am
Leicestershire Police and emergency services are currently on the scene.
Diversion Route
Road users are advised to follow the Solid Diamond diversion symbol on road signs.
- Exit the A453 (southbound) at the A42/A453 Finger Farm Roundabout and take the first exit onto the A42 south.
- Continue southbound keeping in the left lane and taking the free flow lane onto the M1 (southbound).
- Continue south on the M1 to J23 and then exit the motorway.
- At the M1 J23 take the third exit onto the A512 (westbound).
- Continue westbound on the A512 passing through the A512/B591 Ashby Road east/Ingleberry Road/Leicester Road junction, Ashby Road West/Charnwood Road junctions in Shepshed and through the Loughborough Road roundabout in Coleorton through to the A42 junction 13 at Ashby-de-la-Zouch for approximately 7.5 miles.
- At the A42 J13 take the first exit onto the A42 southbound.
