The A453 in Nottinghamshire is closed southbound between the M1 J24 and the A6 near East Midlands Airport/Kegworth due to a collision involving a car and van.
Update: The road has reopened
The collision occurred at 18:45 this evening. Nottinghamshire Police, East Midlands Ambulance Service and Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Services dispatched units to the scene.
National Highways Traffic Officers are on scene to implement emergency traffic management.

Diversion Route
The below diversion route is only suitable for motorway traffic
Traffic is being diverted via the solid square diversion symbol on road signs:
- A453 Traffic from the M1 J23a Finger Farm rbt, take the exit for the A42/M1 SB.
- Keep in the left-hand lane and take the dedicated exit slip for the M1 SB.
- Follow the M1 SB to J23 approx 7.3km
- At J23, exit the M1 and circumnavigate the jct to join the M1 NB.
- Follow the M1 north for approx 9.8km to J24.
- Exit the M1 at J24 and re-join the A453.
- M1 Traffic – continue NB along the M1 to J24. Exit the M1 at J24 and re-join the A453
- A42 Traffic – use the free flow lanes onto the M1 at J23a, continue northbound on the M1 to J24. Exit the M1 at J24 and rejoin the A453
Non-motorway traffic is being diverted at scene using local routes.
