The A46 in Lincolnshire is closed in both directions between the A1434 (Hykeham) and the B1190 near Lincoln due to a vehicle fire.
5 pm update: The closure is expected to remain in place until the early hours of the morning (12th) for emergency resurfacing works
As a result of the fire, there’s a large diesel spillage across the road surface, which has resulted in significant damage. A full road resurfacing operation is required and will be taking place throughout the evening and into the early hours of the morning.
Lincolnshire Police are among the emergency services in attendance. There is a large diesel spillage at scene, of which National Highways contractors will be attending to assist with clearing.
Diversion Routes
Northbound:
- From the A46 Hykeham Island, take the exit onto the A1434 heading north-east.
- At the signalised junction with the B1003, turn left heading for Lincoln city centre.
- At the next junction, take the westbound B1190
- Re-join the A46 at the Doddington Island
Southbound:
- At the A46 Doddington Island, take the exit onto the B1190 south-easterly
- At the traffic light controlled junction with the B1003, turn right and continue southbound
- At the next junction, take the A1434 and continue onward to re-join the A46 at Hykeham
Delays are likely on approach to the closure and diversion routes.
