The NHS is encouraging 16 to 17-year-olds to take advantage of the Covid-19 vaccine programme as teenagers can get their jabs from today.
NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Group has set up four vaccine hubs for 16-17-year-olds from Friday, August 13.
Teenagers in this cohort will be able to walk-in for their jabs at the Queen’s Medical Centre, Forest Recreation Ground, Mansfield’s former Wilkes store and King’s Mill Hospital.
They are hoping for a “big push” over the weekend to get as many people in this age group vaccinated with their first Pfizer jab.
The sites will be open from 8am/8.30am until 7.30pm/8pm over the weekend and coming week.
Other plans revealed in a Nottingham City Council Outbreak and Control Engagement Board meeting on Friday, August 13, included preparing for phase three – a booster jab programme.
This will be open to anyone who has had their second jab six months ago.
The NHS will also be looking at providing vaccines for selected residents under the age of 18.
Sarah Carter, from the CCG, said: “There will be an increase in sites across the city that will be delivering the Covid vaccination.”
