Via East Midlands staff bring Christmas cheer to Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust Charity

Staff at Via East Midlands showed their generosity this Christmas by raising over £700 and donating a range of toys and gifts as part of a Christmas fundraising drive for the Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust Charity.

Every year, Via, a company wholly owned by Nottinghamshire County Council, runs a Christmas appeal to help make a difference in Nottinghamshire’s communities.

This year’s event kicked off with Christmas Jumper Day in early December, where employees were encouraged to put on their festive jumpers and make a donation in support of King’s Mill Hospital. This was followed by a collection of items for patients at the hospital this Christmas.

Members of Via’s staff—led by Santa himself—delivered a cheque, toys, and gifts to the hospital in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

Joy Wilson, Community Involvement Co-ordinator at Sherwood Forest Hospitals, said: “All of us at Children’s Services at King’s Mill Hospital are delighted with Via’s generosity. It was clear to see how passionate Via’s staff are about supporting the hospital.

“We are incredibly grateful and would like to thank them for all their efforts. The donation of the funds and the gifts is particularly meaningful for the children who will receive treatment at the hospital over Christmas. I am certain our patients and their families will be truly grateful for this very thoughtful gesture.”

Dan Maher, Managing Director of Via, said: “It’s been great to see the generosity of Via’s staff across the county this Christmas.

“The Trust’s hospitals in Mansfield and Newark provide invaluable support and services to the communities in which many of our team live and work, so it seemed fitting for us to support them.

“We hope that both the donation and gifts will help the Trust’s charity support people in the area and bring festive cheer to those accessing their services this Christmas.”

The funds raised by Via’s staff will be put towards providing additional services, equipment, and support for the hospital’s patients and staff. This includes funding medical equipment, supporting staff training, enhancing patient environments, and improving the overall healthcare experience for those in their care.
