A group of men left a woman with a suspected broken jaw after a ‘vicious’ attack with a baseball bat.
Officers from Nottinghamshire Police were called to Withern Road in Broxtowe at around 4pm yesterday (Monday 31 May 2021) following the assault on the two men and a woman in the street.
It is thought the offenders arrived in a white VW Scirocco and assaulted the group while in possession of weapons.
The attackers, who are believed to have had baseball bats, struck the woman on the face and left her with a potentially broken jaw before fleeing the scene in the car.
Police quickly began to make enquiries and located a car with a smashed windscreen nearby.
Three men in the car, all in their 30s, were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident.
Detectives are now working hard to establish the circumstances and have urged members of the public with any information to come forward.
Detective Sergeant Jon Kerry, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a vicious and violent attack that has left a woman with serious injuries to her face, including a suspected broken jaw.
“She is now in hospital along with a man who required treatment for a head wound that he suffered in the attack.
“Officers did a fantastic job to quickly locate a car believed to be linked to the investigation and make three arrests. We are now questioning the men as part of our enquiries.
“While we have made arrests, it is still early days in our investigation and I would urge anyone who may have seen something suspicious in the area at the time to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”
Anyone who has any information on the incident should contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 496 of 31 May 2021.
