Victim suffers broken eye socket after assault in an Easthorpe village street

A man suffered a fractured eye-socket when he was assaulted in a street.

Police were called after the victim was taken to hospital following the incident, which was reported to have happened in Easthorpe in Southwell at around 11pm on Monday 12 April.

It has been reported that the victim was assaulted near to The Hearty Goodfellow Pub after he investigated sounds of a disturbance.

Detectives are now appealing for information and witnesses to come forward and aid them in their enquires.

Detective Constable Lauren Carpenter, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a serious assault that left a man needing hospital treatment.

“We believe that there may have been people in the pub that evening who might have witnessed something suspicious at the time.

“Incidents such as this can have a lasting impact beyond physical damage and we are working incredibly hard to establish the circumstances.

“The victim is potentially going to need surgery to treat his injuries, however, his injuries are not life-threatening.

“We are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or something suspicious at the pub to get in touch as soon as possible on 101 quoting incident number 956 of 12 April 2021.”
