Two attempted robbery victims pinned their attacker to the ground and tried to reason with him after he tried to take money from them.
A man and woman were verbally abused and threatened by the suspect who demanded their wallet and money and punched the man in the face.
A scuffle ensued and the victims managed to pin the suspect to the ground and told him to walk away, before starting to leave the scene themselves.
The man then lashed out, hitting the woman in the face and hurling more abuse and threats.
The incident happened on the fields off Inham Road, Chilwell, just before 7pm yesterday (Saturday 5 June).
Police attended and after making enquiries in the area found a man matching the description of the suspect. A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery.
Detective Constable Tony Tonks, who is leading the investigation, said: “The victims suffered bruises and were shaken up by the incident but they dealt with it remarkably well.
“Thankfully we were able to make a quick arrest and our enquiries are progressing.
“If anyone saw the incident, or anything suspicious in the area at that time, I would urge them to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 733 of 5 June 2021.”
