Vital restart grants announced for eligible Rushcliffe businesses

1

Rushcliffe Borough Council has now outlined its plans to ensure vital central government restart grants reach businesses affected by recent national lockdown restrictions.

Eligible businesses can now apply for the restart or additional restrictions grant funding at www.rushcliffe.gov.uk/businesscoronavirus that is over and above any previous grant support with payments anticipated to start on April 19.

Business owners are required to complete the application form and failure to complete thisin full could result in a delay to payments being made or not allocated at all.

They will only be eligible to receive one of these two types of grants so it’s important all apply for the correct funding stream.

Restart grants

This will support businesses with a business rates account and affected sectors
required to close by government restrictions, who provide direct in-person services at
their business property and fall within the non-essential retail, hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym industries.

This is a mandatory scheme and the amounts paid are not at the discretion of the
Council.

It has two strands, depending on the sector, and business owners will receive one of
the following:

Strand 1:

Supporting non-essential retail premises with one-off grants of up to £6,000. The
following thresholds apply for these businesses:

a. Businesses occupying premises appearing on the local rating list with a rateable
value of exactly £15,000 or under on 1 April 2021 will receive a payment of £2,667.

b. Businesses occupying premises appearing on the local rating list with a rateable
value over £15,000 and less than £51,000 on 1 April 2021 will receive a payment of
£4,000.

c. Businesses occupying premises appearing on the local rating list with a rateable
value of exactly £51,000 or over on 1 April 2021 will receive a payment of £6,000.

Or Strand 2:

Supporting hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym business
premises with one-off grants of up to £18,000. The following thresholds apply for
these businesses:

a. Businesses occupying premises appearing on the local rating list with a rateable
value of exactly £15,000 or under on 1 April 2021 will receive a payment of £8,000.

b. Businesses occupying premises appearing on the local rating list with a rateable
value over £15,000 and less than £51,000 on 1 April 2021 will receive a payment of
£12,000.

c. Businesses occupying premises appearing on the local rating list with a rateable
value of exactly £51,000 or over on 1 April 2021 will receive a payment of £18,000.

Additional Restrictions Grants

This will be a top up fund to the current existing Discretionary Additional Restrictions
Grant scheme for those businesses not eligible for restart grants.

This will support businesses that do not have a business rates account or do not
provide direct services from their business property.

The Council have not yet been notified of the amount of money available so are not
in a position to specify the amount it can pay to businesses that fall within this
category.

Further information will be made available when possible at
www.rushcliffe.gov.uk/businesscoronavirus

The news builds on the authority having distributed over £40m of previous central
government grants or support since last March to over 1,500 eligible businesses.

For all other support, business owners should contact the Council’s Economic
Growth team by emailing econdev@rushcliffe.gov.uk.
