Wanted man found asleep at home as police uncover suspected cocaine

Officers discovered a large amount of suspected cocaine after tracking down a wanted man.

A warrant was issued for the 49-year-old’s arrest after he failed to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 14 April.

He had been due to appear having been charged with driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance on 13 March.

Police executed the warrant on Sunday (19 April) after receiving intelligence he was at an address in Chadburn Road, Mansfield.

After arriving at the property, a male occupant appeared at a side gate but denied the wanted man was inside the address.

However, an officer searched the property and found the wanted man asleep on a bed.

While arresting him for failing to appear at court, the officer spotted a bag of white powder – believed to be cocaine – next to the bed.

Meanwhile, a search of the rest of the property led to the discovery of a large amount of suspected mamba.

As such, the wanted man was further arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs.

The other male occupant, 51, was also arrested for the same drug offences.

Both men were taken into custody for questioning and released on bail pending further investigation work.

PC Jamie Faulkner, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“I am pleased we have been able to detain this wanted person and at the same time seize a large quantity of drugs.

“Controlled drugs have a devastating impact on communities as they invariably result in exploitation and wider criminality.

“It is our duty as officers to disrupt the supply harmful drugs to our communities and we will continue to target criminals involved in illicit dealing.”
