Fire crews in the East Midlands remind parents of the dangers of icy ponds and lakes.
Fire crews from Shirebrook Fire Station said:
‘At 8:08 pm on Wednesday 15 December, fire crews were alerted to a Humanitarian Assistance after receiving a call regarding children playing on the frozen pond at Shirebrook Leisure centre.
‘Thankfully the children had made their way off home before we arrived and had safely exited the pond
‘With the recent tragic Incident that has taken place in the West Midlands, we’re asking parents to please remind their children of the danger of ice!
