Police warning after ‘Young European females’ target Rushcliffe homes committing distraction burglaries

Police in Rushcliffe say that young Eastern European females are approaching senior citizens, presenting as charity workers. It is suspected this is in order to steal cash, cards, jewellery and other items of value. It is believed they have no connection to any official charity.

Historically, they move around our shopping areas and market places carrying clip boards and fake IDs for a charity, they are very pushy and crowd the person talking loudly, the other then dips into pockets, hand bags and even removes personal jewellery and wallets etc.

Items have previously been discarded quickly into rubbish bins once the cash and cards have been taken.

One elderly lady later discovered a necklace had been removed from around her neck.

Similar described females have been seen knocking on the doors of elderly residents, again carrying clip boards and fake ID claiming to be collecting for charity. They are very pushy and aggressive when challenged.

Historically the women involved are transported to several different venues each day by one or two males, also described as of Eastern European appearance. They also travel to different towns each day, often many miles apart.

Please report any suspicious behaviour you may see, we particularly need information about the vehicle that they are using, make model and number plates if possible.

To shops and businesses, please ensure your CCTV is working properly as they may enter shops and businesses to steal.
