Work is ongoing on the new walking and cycling link connecting Waterside Bridge with Poulton Drive.
The route is now expected to open next week.
In the meantime, people approaching the bridge from the north side of the River Trent can continue to walk or cycle through Trent Basin.
The update does not affect the Waterside Bridge fun day taking place this Sunday.
Visitors will be able to get through the site to the bridge during the event.

Free blue badge and general parking will be available at Poulton Drive on a first come, first served basis.
Organisers said parking will no longer be at the rugby club, as previously advertised.
