A man has been charged with burglary and a weapons offence after a break-in was reported to police.
The incident took place at an address in Bridlington Street, Nottingham, shortly after 4.30am on Monday morning.
Entry to the property had been gained through an unsecured rear door as the occupiers were sleeping. A laptop, car keys and other items were later recovered by police.
Dylan Whyte, 26, of Nottingham, has been charged with burglary and possession of a knife in a public place.
He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court yesterday morning and was remanded into custody.
Detective Constable Colin Kirkup, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Burglary is an upsetting crime that can have long-lasting impact on victims – some of whom never feel completely secure in their own homes again.
“That’s why we have two dedicated teams of detectives who focus only on burglary offences. I am pleased we have made such swift progress in this case and that a charge has now been made.”
