West Bridgford: Arrest after theft from property in Melton Road

Police investigating a break-in at a home have arrested a suspect.

Officers were called to Melton Road, West Bridgford, after reports that copper piping, fittings, and electrical cable had been stolen from a property being renovated.

An intruder had entered the premises through metal fencing placed over the driveway between 12.30 am and 1.30 am on 24 March 2023.

An ongoing police investigation has involved studying CCTV and Ring doorbell footage and other inquiries in the area.

Officers arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of burglary on Thursday (27 July).

Inspector Andy Wright, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Construction sites and homes under renovation like this can be tempting targets for opportunistic thieves.

“We would urge building companies and people carrying out work on their own homes to make sure sites are as secure as possible.

“We take reports of break-ins like this very seriously and I’m pleased we have now arrested a suspect.

“Our investigation remains ongoing, however, and anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting incident number 154 of 24 March 2023, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
