West Bridgford’s free Christmas Lights Switch On takes place this week on Saturday November 18 from 10 am until 5 pm.
The event takes place on Central Avenue throughout the day and visitors can enjoy seasonal festivities, browse a selection of food, drink and gift stalls, street performers and live music from community groups!
Nottingham’s Our Dementia Choir will perform on stage from 4 pm ahead of the countdown to the lights switch on by Mayor of Rushcliffe Cllr Debbie Mason at 5 pm, followed by a grand finale of lower noise fireworks and LED freestyle performers.
Local athlete Jonty Bayliss will be hosting the main stage and there will be variety of family favourites including local choirs, community groups and a resident DJ throughout the day.
Performances on stage include:
12pm to 1pm – Resident DJ
1pm to 1.15pm – Plumtree school
1.30pm to 2.15pm – Liberty Singers
2.30pm to 3pm – St Edmund Campion
3pm to 3.45pm – Rock Choir
4pm to 4.45pm – Our Dementia Choir
5pm – Build up, lights switch on by Mayor of Rushcliffe Cllr Debbie Mason followed by low noise but spectacular fireworks and LED performers
The food and gift market will showcase over 40 of the region’s and Borough’s finest designers and producers, offering a chance to buy a range of seasonal treats to put a smile on the face of a friend or loved one.

“They are an inspiring group helping to spread awareness around dementia and we’re delighted to welcome them as we work to become a Dementia Friendly community here in the Borough.
