The West Bridgford Colts 1st Year University and Gap Year Students slept out overnight on Pitch 1 at Regatta Way on Tuesday 20th December 2022 in aid of local homelessness charity the Friary.
Despite the strong wind and rain that started falling at 4.15 am, the hardy group were undeterred.
The event was part of the Colts’ desire to give back to the local community and was organised in no small part by Craig Jones, father of Ben who participated in the challenge.
Initially, the group had set themselves a target of £500 but smashed this and has currently raised the astounding figure of £1,651.
Friary CEO Ben Talbot visited the team before and after the sleepout and is full of praise for what they have achieved.
‘The lads not only braved the difficult conditions but also raised an incredible amount of money for the Friary.
They are a credit to the club and showed a real interest in the work of the organisation.
Those who are homeless or rough sleeping face challenges all year round but the winter months and Christmas period are particularly difficult.
The funds that the group have raised will help us to ensure that we can provide support to those in need throughout this time. A massive thank you to everyone who took part.
There is still an opportunity to donate to the event
