West Bridgford NHS Liberty Singers at Portello Lounge

Saturday was a very special day for singing. The ICU Liberty Singers are a choir of NHS Critical Careworkers formed in November 2020 by West Bridgford choir director Kari Olsen-Porthouse.

They managed to released a single last Christmas and have continued to sing together online and create virtual recordings.

Last weekend was their third in-person meet up and social gathering in West Bridgford.

The ICU Singers rehearsed at the West Bridgford Junior School for just three hours ahead of the performance where they were joined by the Liberty Belles for a gig at Portello Lounge on Central Avenue.

The Belles sang 4 songs, then the ICU Liberty Singers sang four songs and then they sang together.

The support for both choirs from the local community as well as each other was amazing.

“My mum couldn’t believe that the two choirs sang three songs together and had never rehearsed in the same room!” said Kari, “it’s amazing that one group has been taught face to face and the others online and yet the sound they produced was fantastic. I’m very proud of them all.”

They are so pleased with each other and the whole event that they are already planning something similar for next year. Watch this space!
