A suspect has appeared in court charged with a string of shoplifting offences.
A 41-year-old man from West Bridgford was remanded in custody when he appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (10 December 2022).
He is accused of 12 thefts from a number of different stores across West Bridgford during September, October and November this year.
Police from the West Bridgford neighbourhood policing team carried out a detailed investigation which involved analysing CCTV and liaising with shop staff from all the stores involved.
Inspector Rob Lawton, Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for Rushcliffe, said:
“Our local policing team works very closely with shop staff and business owners, as well as Rushcliffe Borough Council and other partners, to reduce shoplifting and other business crime.
“We know what an impact shoplifting can have on our local communities and businesses and we remain committed to tackling and reducing shop theft as one of our local policing priorities.
“As part of our ongoing work, we are continuing to work closely with retail partners to support them, providing crime prevention advice, as well as locating and arresting suspects.
“I am pleased this suspect has now appeared before the courts after a determined investigation by neighbourhood officers.
“Increased patrols will continue over the Christmas period as we continue to tackle shop theft and antisocial behaviour as our key beat priorities.”
