Another independent West Bridgford business will close its doors for the last time this weekend.

The West Bridgford Local News Shop at 16 Gordon Road will cease trading on Saturday 25 August.

The shop sells and delivers newspapers, and stocks tobacco and sweets along with various convenience items.

It follows the news that One Stop announced the closure of their convenience store on Gordon Square last week.

A spokesperson for the newsagent told The Wire:  “Our lease at 16 Gordon Road has now come to an end, so the shop will cease trading on Saturday 25th August.”

The shop operates as a separate business to the Local News brand that delivers freeprint monthly news to homes across Nottinghamshire and which is completely unaffected.

The spokesperson added: “Newspaper home deliveries will continue as normal. Customers will be contacted by delivermynews about new payment methods. Customers can also call 0115 989 2232 for further details.
“We would like to thank all those costumers who have supported us for the past seven years.”
