Customers at the Meadow Covert pub on Alford Road in West Bridgford have raised a massive £2,500 to name a Guide Dog puppy by holding two separate events!
Will Taylor, a regular customer at the Meadow Covert, whose uncle was blind and relied on a Guide Dog, had the idea to raise money after watching an advertisement on television.
He approached Pete and Debs (the Landlords at the pub) with his ideas and being a very dog-friendly and community minded pub, Pete and Debs were only too keen to help with the fund raising.
The first event was a quiz evening which included supper supplied by the pub.
This was followed by a Curry and Magician evening and Landlord Pete cooked all the food himself!
Magician, Peter Presto entertained the diners by performing tricks and magic at each table.
Guide Dogs for the Blind representatives, Terry and Sally (and of course Emmet the Guide Dog) were amazed at the generosity of the customers at the Meadow Covert and the speed with which the money was raised. The pub will be presented with a certificate and a photograph of the puppy which will be called “Meadow”.
