During the Covid-19 lockdowns the fund-raising branches of the RNLI (Lifeboats) had to suspend all activities, but that has now changed.
On Thursday 10 June the West Bridgford Branch were out collecting in and around Bingham Market Place during the weekly Thursday market.
This was the first collection the branch has been able to undertake for 18 months as a result of the pandemic, they have had to reappraise what they do and the way they do it.
One change is that the use of coins has reduced in favour of card transactions.
To accommodate this the branch now have a card reader on site at every collection and it was in use for the first time this year at Bingham.
Owing to Covid restrictions the market had not yet returned to its former size and they only had sufficient staff to collect in the morning, but they collected £209 which was a very good result.
The RNLI would like to thank all who made this possible, thank you all.
