Residents and road users in Rushcliffe can expect major improvements across the district this month as part of Nottinghamshire County Council’s £181.25 million Highway Capital Maintenance Programme.
Nottinghamshire County Council, working with its highways partner Via East Midlands, has published its month-ahead programme of planned roadworks for September, featuring three major resurfacing schemes in Rushcliffe.
This includes the A60 Loughborough Road / Mere Way Roundabout in Ruddington.
These works will be conducted alongside the countywide surface dressing and micro asphalt programmes, which continue across more than 200 sites throughout Nottinghamshire. Both are preventative treatments that help to extend the life of the highway by retexturing the road surface, preventing water ingress, and reducing the formation of potholes and cracks. The works are weather dependent.
All improvements form part of the record investment in the 2026/27 Highway Capital Maintenance Programme, which is delivering essential maintenance, resurfacing and infrastructure improvements across the district to help keep roads safe, reduce congestion and support long-term transport efficiency.
In addition to these works, patching teams, supported by the council’s new JCB Pothole Pro machines, will deliver patch repairs on another three roads in the area. These include Willoughby Road in Widmerpool and Bidwell Crescent and Moor Lane in Gotham. In the meantime, highways teams will be making improvements in Moor Lane and Stanford Lane in Normanton on Soar, Rempstone Road in East Leake, as well as Musters Road and Eton Road in West Bridgford.
The works planned for September come after resurfacing was completed on footways at Carnarvon Road in West Bridgford and across a number of local roads in Keyworth.
Councillor Bert Bingham, Cabinet Member for Transport and Environment at NCC, said, “We are continuing to make significant progress in improving roads across Rushcliffe with major resurfacing schemes planned for September alongside a range of additional repairs and preventative maintenance works.
“Our summer surface dressing programme continues to make good progress, with micro-surfacing works also set to continue. More than 150 roads across the county will be treated between now and autumn. As schedules can change due to weather conditions, residents are encouraged to check the Notts Highways website for the latest information.
“This year’s record highways investment has enabled us to tackle more roads than ever before. By the end of July we had delivered nearly 100 road surface improvement schemes and we will complete hundreds more by the end of the year.

Via will continue to run its year-round programme of preventative maintenance which includes cleansing highway gullies and drains, tree inspections and surface repairs.
