After eighteen months of building work, The West Bridgford School took ‘final delivery’ of £3.5 million of new buildings over the Summer holidays.

A new Modern Foreign Languages Block, replete with digital language lab, a doubled in size Post 16 Centre, and a completely refurbished English Block (former World Studies) have made a huge difference to the feel of the school.

After many years of over-subscription, and the governors ambition find a place for every child in the catchment area, the popular South Nottinghamshire school had points in the week where every available space was being used to host lessons.

The new buildings now allow its continued expansion. Larger year groups in lower years, and record numbers in the Sixth Form, mean these new spaces have been rapidly filled at the start of the year.

Mr Peacock, the Head of School, says “The new buildings are a modern complement to the traditional architecture of the existing school.

Our new Year 7 are learning how to find their way around the site, but just to add to the fun we have also renamed all the rooms in the school by subject, so that everyone, including the staff, have to keep consulting the map!”
