West Bridgford teenager wins brand new Ford Fiesta in prize draw

A teenager from West Bridgford who recently passed his driving test has won a brand new Ford Fiesta.

Jake Tommasi, 17, won the new car worth more than £15,000 after entering a prize draw run by learner driver insurers, Marmalade.

The 17-year-old said he was “delighted” to win the car and was looking forward to the additional freedom it would give him.

He said: “I was shocked when I found out I’d won the prize draw because I entered it without having any expectations of actually winning the car. I’m absolutely delighted to have the keys to my own car though.

“Since passing my test earlier this year I’ve been sharing my dad’s Toyota Yaris so I’m sure he’s pleased I won’t be asking him to use it anymore as well.”

Jake, who is in his second year of sixth form, said winning the car would also benefit him with his studies.

“I used to have to catch the bus to college which would take me 40 minutes,” he said.

“Now I’ll be able to drive there which will cut 20 minutes off of my journey giving me more time to focus on work and revision.”

Jake hopes to go on to study History at The University of Oxford after taking a gap year following his A-levels.

Commenting on Jake winning the prize draw, Paul Baxter, Managing Director of Marmalade said:

“Over the past two years learner drivers have faced multiple setbacks as a result of cancellations to driving tests and lessons during the pandemic.

“After such a difficult period it’s been great to be able to give young drivers the opportunity to win a brand new car of their own, something they’ll remember for the rest of their life.

“It’s been fantastic to see Jake benefiting from his new Fiesta already and I’m sure he’ll continue to enjoy the freedom having your own car brings.”

Entrants to Marmalade’s prize draw were given the chance to win the car by being selected at random.
