Updated: West Bridgford traffic gridlock – Highways England statement – vehicle fire avoid area

The road is closed both ways. The incident happened at around 2 pm on Friday 2 July.

Highways England said:

‘The A52 in BOTH directions Wheatcroft (A606 WestBridgford) to Gamston (A6011) is currently CLOSED due to a serious collision. ( vehicle fire )

Nottinghamshire Police are currently at scene, Traffic Officers & Maintenance Crews are on their way to assist. If planning travel, avoid the area.’

Nottinghamshire Police told us: ‘We were called to a vehicle fire on Gamston Lings Bar road at 2 :45 pm Friday 2 July.

‘The road is closed in both directions to deal with the incident.’

AA Reports:

‘Road closed and queueing traffic due to accident on A52 Radcliffe Road both ways between A606 Melton Road (Wheatcroft Island) and A6011 (Gamston roundabout).

‘Congestion to all approaches to the Wheatcroft island and the A606 Melton Road towards Plumtree.’
