Super Sparkle is a children’s event and education company providing magical parties, interactive storytelling theatre and drama workshops across the Midlands.
Last week Super Sparkle owner Monika Johnson attended Theo Paphitis’ Small Business Sunday event having been chosen as one of his #SBS winners in September and picked up the winner’s certificate and photo.
‘This month we were finalists in the Biz bubble community business of the year and I have just found out I am also finalist in three categories with the Club Hub awards 2022 – Community business, independent business and family business!’
Monika, who is from West Bridgford said:
‘I have been running Super Sparkle since 2013 and set up the company after I had been a secondary Drama teacher.
‘During the pandemic we had to adapt. I rebranded our company, zoomed into schools and communities and offered virtual parties as well as drama workshops and party boxes for local and national schools, charities like Barnardos UK and the QMC hospital school.
‘With a vision to see all children access theatrical experiences in our community, our parties and events reflect our ethos-they are fun, original, magical and inspire children to have a go and feel empowered to find their own creativity.
‘Community is at the heart of our company. We have taken our shows to festivals, Lark in the Park, Nottingham Playhouse, Tearooms and corporate events.
‘In 2021 we added a new branch to our company-‘Sparkle Mouse’. Sparkle Mouse is our resident storytelling mouse, taking early years children on imaginative adventures using drama and sensory play. We have been visiting pre school settings and have our next storytelling show ‘Curious Carrots’ at the Beanblock cafe in Newark on 15 April.
‘In September we became one of the Theo Paphitis Small Business Sunday (#SBS) winners, this month we became a Bizbubbel finalist for community biz of the year and yesterday became finalists in three categories for the Club Hub awards 2022 (recognising children’s activity providers)-Family business, Independent business and Community business.
‘I am a mum of three and feel proud that as a small business we have managed to adapt, grow and stand by our vision these last two years and hope the journey will continue so we can bring more exciting, magical events to young people and their families in Nottingham.’
