Nottingham City Transport has confirmed how its bus services will operate during the next two days of industrial action on the city’s tram network.
There will be no tram services in Nottingham on Friday 2 October and Saturday 3 October 2026 because of strike action.
NCT said it will operate its existing timetables across its full bus network on both days, although there will be a difference in the vehicles available on one of the main routes serving Clifton and The Meadows.
During the first two days of tram industrial action, NCT was able to operate double-decker buses on its Navy 48 and 48A services because school and university buses were not required at the weekend.
However, because the latest strike period includes a Friday, those additional vehicles will not be available on Friday 2 October.
Navy 48 and 48A services between the city, The Meadows and Clifton will therefore operate mainly with their usual single-deck fleet on Friday, with some double-deckers used where available.
Double-decker buses are expected to operate on the routes on Saturday 3 October.
The two strike days coincide with Nottingham Goose Fair, which is taking place at the Forest Recreation Ground.
NCT said passengers travelling to the fair can use its Brown, Lime, Yellow and Purple Line services between the city centre and Mansfield Road.
Those services serve Parliament Street and Milton Street in the city centre and stop at Forest Gate on Mansfield Road, close to the Goose Fair site.
The tram strike is part of a wider period of industrial action running from Saturday 26 September until Sunday 4 October.
There was no tram service on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September, while services have been operating on the intervening days before stopping again on Friday 2 and Saturday 3 October.
Trams are expected to return on Sunday 4 October, although passengers have previously been warned that delays may occur during the industrial action period.
People who would normally use Nottingham’s tram Park and Ride sites can also use NCT’s bus-based Park and Ride services from Queens Drive and Racecourse.
South Notts 1 and Navy 48/48A services also stop near the Clifton South Park and Ride site.
NCT and Robin Hood prepaid tickets are valid on the bus services.
However, passengers holding NET tram tickets will need to pay the normal bus fare if they transfer to an NCT service during the strike.
