A Wilford woman has been left distraught after a garden memorial in the shape of two Buddha’s which contained her father’s ashes have been stolen.
The NHS worker woke up to look out of her window of her Maplestead Avenue home to see the statues gone which left her devastated.
Her father was just 61-years-old when he passed away from cancer and now the married mother of three children is desperate to have her items returned to her.
The 48-year-old who didn’t want to be named said: “My father brought them for me over 15 years ago, they aren’t worth anything, but after he passed away in 2016 I had some ashes placed in one of them and had it as a garden memorial piece.
“It’s obviously got hugely sentimental value to me and my family.
“I’m absolutely gutted they’ve now gone. If anyone sees them being sold or recognises them, please help me get them back. The statues are both bronze, one lying down and one sitting.
“Hopefully we can track them down and I can have them returned.”
Officers are now appealing for any witness or information following the incident on Tuesday 23 June 2020 at around 3.15am.
Police Constable Chris Lee is leading the investigation. He said: We were saddened to hear of the theft and we hope to catch the culprit.
“We’ve spoken to local residents and made local CCTV enquiries and we are keen to speak to this man pictured in connection with the incident. We understand it’s not the clearest image, but you never know it might jog someone’s memory who saw something suspicious that night.
“If anyone recognises him please do get in touch as he might be able to help with our enquiries.”
Please call 101, quoting incident number 206 of 23 June 2020 if you have any information.
