Police responded to a report of a disturbance in Wharfedale, Wollaton, at about 11.35pm on Tuesday (29 July).
A man reported being sprayed in the face with a liquid in a small black cannister following an argument with a neighbour. He felt a burning sensation and so called 999.
Officers attended and took him to Queen’s Medical Centre after he stated his eyes and mouth were in pain.
Thankfully his injuries are not life-altering or life-threatening.
A 57-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of maliciously administering a noxious substance.
He was further arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class B drug following a search of his address.
Sergeant Thomas Larder, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“As a police service, we are committed to ensuring those who behave in a violent manner are dealt with swiftly and robustly.
“Thankfully the victim in this case only suffered minor injuries and enquiries to determine the contents of the cannister are ongoing.
“We are satisfied both men know each other and there is no danger to anyone else within the community.
“The 57-year-old man remains in police custody.”
