Woman, 18, punched in head and neck in Nottingham city centre

A woman was taken to hospital after she was punched to the head and neck by another woman after a night out.

Officers were called to the assault in Friar Lane in the city centre and within minutes they arrested a woman nearby in connection with the incident.

The 18-year-old victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

Her injuries are not currently believed to be serious.

A 35-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm shortly after 12.30am on Thursday (30 September 2021).

Sergeant Stephanie Clough, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are working hard to understand the circumstances of this nasty assault and we are urging anyone who saw what happened to please come forward to help us with our enquiries.

“Violence of this nature on our streets is unacceptable. We will always take reports of this kind seriously and investigate and I would like to reassure people that we will take robust action against those involved in this type of disorder.”

Anyone who witnessed the assault, who may have captured CCTV, dash-cam or mobile phone footage of the incident or who may have any other information is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 17 of  30 September 2021, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
