A man has appeared in court over allegations a woman was assaulted in broad daylight.
Officers were called to Old Market Square in Nottingham after reports that the victim had been hit on the head with the handle of a knife.
Police arrived within minutes, arrested a man and seized a knife.
The woman suffered a lump to her head following the alleged incident which happened at around 1.30pm on Monday 4 April.
Josh Gittins, aged 23, of no fixed address, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 5 April charged with assault by beating and possession of a knife in a public place.
He was remanded in custody and is next due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 10 May 2022.
