Woman charged with child abducton and firearm possession after Nottingham incident


Police have charged a woman with child abduction, possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence, false imprisonment and aggravated burglary after responding to concerns for the welfare of a child in Nottingham on Thursday (1 August 2019).

Samantha Thomas, 43, of Gresley Drive, Nottingham, has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court later today (Saturday 3 August 2019).

Officers were called to a property in Cope Street, Radford, after being made aware of concerns for the welfare of a two-and-a-half year-old girl just before 11am on Thursday. The girl is now safe.

A 44-year-old man arrested on suspicion of child abduction in relation to the incident remains in custody.
