Woman pedestrian dies after collision in Waitrose car park

A woman has died after a collision in a Newark supermarket car park.

Emergency services were called to Waitrose, in Ossington Way, Newark, at 1.41pm today (Friday 5 July 2024) after an incident involving a car and two pedestrians.

A woman, aged in her sixties, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Another woman was taken to hospital for treatment. Her injuries are not currently believed to be life threatening.

Investigation work is continuing at the scene and no arrests have been made.

Sergeant Craig Luckett, of Nottinghamshire Police’s roads policing and serious collision investigation unit, said:

“This was a tragic and distressing incident, and our thoughts are with the victim and her family.

“We are currently working to understand exactly what happened and have already spoken with a number of witnesses.

“We ask that anyone with additional information or footage from the scene shares it with us soon as possible.”
