Woman found with serious injuries on A52

Police are appealing for information after a woman was found with serious injuries on the A52 in Derby.

The woman, aged in her 30s, was found just before 1.10 am on Thursday 11 May near to a railway bridge on the eastbound carriageway, between Pentagon Island and Cardinal Square.

Ambulance crews attended and she was taken to hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

Police said:

‘We are investigating the circumstances around how she suffered those injuries, and officers would like to speak to anyone who was driving on this stretch of the A52 between around 12.30 am and 1.10 am.

‘We would particularly like to speak to anyone with dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident.’

The A52 was closed in both directions while initial enquiries were carried out.

Due to contact with officers prior to the incident we have self-referred to the Independent Officer for Police Conduct (IOPC), which is mandatory.
